Welcome to the world of Tribe X Entertainment. "We do the work. You take the applause." -Harrison "Harry Baba" Nwozo Jr. Since 2001, Tribe X Entertainment, LLC has been responsible for promoting some of the greatest African, particularly Nigerian, events in the Washington DC metropolitan area. Founded by Entertainment Consultant, Management & Promotional Expert, Harrison "Harry Baba" Nwozo Jr., along with his wife and company Vice President, Tochukwu “Tee” Nwozo, Tribe X has produced and promoted a number of history-making events in the US and Nigeria simultaneously. For seven years the name Tribe X Entertainment has been synonymous with excellence, quality, and elegance. The company has proven over the years to be diligent, professional, and proficient when it comes to organizing upscale cultural events, fashion shows, Nollywood movie premieres, concerts, fundraisers, picnics and parties. In the year June 2008, Harrison and his wife Tochukwu were awarded the “Best United States Based Nigerian Promoter” at a prestigious all Nigerian red carpet award show in New York City, USA. The award was presented by the Nigerian Entertainment Award Committee. It was the appreciation from the Nigerian community all across the globe who voted overwhelmingly for “Harry Baba” as Harrison Nwozo he is fondly known by his fans, to win the award over four other contestants in the same category. Innovative and Historical Events Tribe X kicked off its first event at Tom-Tom Bar & Restaurant located in the hip and trendy Adams Morgan neighborhood in Washington D.C. A young, talented and suave Nigerian R&B singer named Banky W. claimed the stage and sang his way into the hearts of thousands. This event marked the phenomenal beginning of Tribe X, a refreshing change for the Nigerian entertainment-promotion scene. Since the inception of Tribe X Entertainment, LLC, the company has been hired by major clients such as F.A.N (Filmmakers Association of Nigeria) for event management, marketing and promoting. In 2004, Tribe X promoted the monumental Nollywood event, held at the Washington Times Ballroom in Washington DC, where Nigerian film stars like Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Richard Mofe Damijo, Jim Iyke, and Ramsey Nouah made appearances. Tribe X once again delivered their superb services by also ensuring the stars’ appearances at the then-popular Izora, a newly-owned Nigerian Restaurant & Club in Silver Spring, MD. Both events were sold out as hundreds of Africans from around the world came to see the celebrated stars of Nollywood. In fall 2005, Tribe X Entertainment successfully promoted the Miss Africa International Beauty Pageant in Washington, DC. 2,500 patrons came to the Warner Theatre in Downtown Washington DC for the remarkable event, which was hosted by Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke. The pageant was a huge accomplishment for the marketing team at Tribe X Entertainment. Tribe X Entertainment also made history in February 2005, when Twenty-Four Seven Africa hired the company to promote and market four Nigerian movies that were shown at the distinguished AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center in downtown Silver Spring in celebration of Black History Month. In September 2006, the Tribe X family launched a new platform of their business as participants in the 21st NCNW Annual Black Family Reunion celebration. This two-day enriching festival is one that is highly recognized and attracts over 500,000 people each year. The event is held annually at the Washington National Mall. It hosts various themed exhibitions and features several music artists on different soundstages. In 2006, Tribe X Entertainment was designated a soundstage, which sought to deliver a different melody. Tribe X had taken on the role of unofficial ambassadors of an emerging genre of Nigerian music. Some of the artists featured on stage were: Madarocka, Pa J, Lil Ayo, Damask, TNT, and Shoboy. The host of the Tribe X showcase was Voice of America's Losia "Queen" Nyankale. "We wanted to do more for our Nigerian and African communities as promoters. Most promoters usually host parties in clubs, restaurants or lounges on major holidays or on weekends. I was always more interested in creating, promoting and marketing quality and memorable events that would set the standard for others to follow," said Harry Baba about the showcase at the The Black Family Reunion. "I never knew that one day I would be putting on a Nigerian Hip Hop show at the Washington National Mall, the very place where Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his ‘I have a dream’ speech.” Back To The Music In 2006, Tribe X Entertainment ventured back into the business of music by creating, executively producing, marketing and promoting the The Green October Project, Volume I which was officially released in May 2006. The Green October Project, Volume I showcases talents of local Nigerian Hip Hop artists based in the USA. Madarocka, Pa J, SKI, El Dee, Stevano U.G.O, Lil' Ayo, Shoboy, Tolumide, Big Lu, Damask, Banky, Amplifyd, China Okasi, and Abiodun Koya were all featured on the CD. Harry Baba’s (who served as the executive producer) inspiration for The Green October Project, Volume I comes from his love for African “high life” music, African reggae, African jazz, Afro funk and music by the legendary Fela Kuti. In early 2001, He developed an interest in Nigerian Hip-Hop and R & B. He formed relationships with several local Nigerian R & B and Hip Hop artists, including Banky Wellington and Ike "SKI" Ejim. Harrison realized the great opportunities that exist in the Nigerian Hip Hop scene in the US. "Along with having a very strong production, this album has good beats and party sounds that immediately caught my attention" said Zeke Zanders former record promoter for Atlantic Records and RCA Records. "Sometimes in music, there are these 'magical beats' that make people move and just feel. This album does that. Even though I don't understand some of the non-English lyrics, it still takes me there." "I would say Hip-Hop's influence has become very powerful not just because of the music but also the social attitude and lifestyle it represents," said Zanders. "Hip-Hop is the tool for young people to vocalize that they are the 'now' generation who cannot be ignored and will prove just what they can do." Tribe X Entertainment and the artists on The Green October Project, Volume I goal is to contribute significantly to African Hip-Hop and bring the genre into the airwaves, home stereos and MP3 players of American audiences. The album's title signifies unity, originality and independence. Green is one of Nigeria's national colors, symbolizing prosperity and progress. October is the month celebrating Nigeria's independence from colonial rule to become its own country. The Green October Project, Volume I highlights African unity by sharing the unique sounds of Nigerian Hip-Hop with the entire world. The Green October Project has sold 3,500 copies to date. After the release of The Green October Project Volume I, Amplifyd Entertainment hired Tribe X as the exclusive promoter for a Tuface Concert in Baltimore, Maryland Memorial Day Weekend 2006. The show also featured Majek Fashek, Banky and Amplifyd. Most recently, Tribe X Entertainment promoted comedy/concert Julius Agwu "Crack Ya Ribs" Comedy Tour. Both events were promotion successes. The illustrious team of Tribe X is keeping with their marketing and promotional line of work. They recently promoted fund raising events for The Exclusive Ladies of Enugu State, a non-profit organization that is based in the Metropolitan DC Area. "I am proud of these ladies because they came together and pooled their resources and that of the community, as well as of sponsors to build an orphanage for abandoned children in the Enugu, Nigeria. I am proud to be a part of that effort,” said Harrison. Harrison C. Nwozo Jr is the Director of Marketing for the Nigerian Soccer League in Bladensburg Maryland, a mortgage broker, and father of two. Yet, he still finds the time to promote many successful African events in the DC, MD and VA area without getting the respect he fully deserves. "My greatest satisfaction comes from building strong relationships where I have the opportunities to develop strategies and ideas to assist my clients in gaining exposure for their businesses and events. I always give my 200% in making sure the event is not only successful but will have a lasting impact on those who participate. I love being a part of history and consistently creating an entertainment standard that others follow," said Harrison.
