Biography

Born into music, following in his father’s footsteps, no one would ever think that he would be a great musical artiste n lyricist as he is today. He was always looked at as one not being serious at what he desired to be. To his family it was just a “faze” that he was going through. But as time went on they had realized that he has been gifted with a talent that many wished for. HIP HOP, R & B, & REGGAE artiste OLUMIDE FRIDAY YEKU also known by his stage name SALTZ is the 4th out of 9 children, born to Christian parents Mr. and Mrs. GBOLAHAN YEKU. Born and raised in IJESHA, SURULERE, LAGOS STATE, the western part of NIGERIA. It has been home for SALTZ ever since.

Currently working on his 1st solo album, SALTZ has been working diligently and will start his online promotion soon. His goal is to be able to collaborate with top Nigerian artistes and eventually be signed by a major record label. His songs are also being played by Dee Jays on a few online radio stations as well as at live events.

Driven by the struggles of life that he and his family had to endure, growing up in a country where daily life for many is a fight for survival. Despite many obstacles SALTZ persistence got him where he is today.

Inspired by artistes like MICHAEL JACKSON, R. KELLY AND T PAIN,. SALTZ has brought many diverse styles into his music and that’s what makes his music fresh and exciting. He started his musical career at a very young age of 14 and was a member of a group called JAIZ BOYS. After the breakup in 1991 he had formed a group consisting of both he and his older brother, KAYODE SAMSON YEKU and they called themselves DAJEN2. They released 2 singles, “KPAKPARISTIC” and “HEAVEN I NEED LOVE” Which got them a recording contract with STRUGGLE ENT. SOUTH AFRICA.

Now going solo, SALTZ has produced many singles that are out on the internet to name a few, BOLD & BEAUTIFUL (ft. RHYME & DZARA), HOTTEST GIRL (ft. DZARA), MUST CONFESS produced by DZARA, BRING IT LOW, and MA BOO and newest singles LEAVE AM, MA TURN (ft. OBI9), and CRAZY (ft. KAYODE) and many more hot tracks for the upcoming album. Other than being a great artiste SALTZ has written lyrics for many other artistes. He is also a versatile producer and a sound engineer as well.

With an impressive collection of songs with many more in the works, SALTZ is on his way to achieving what many dream of and is definitely in the race for the top. No doubt.
